Pine Mountain Run '08
Craig and company went on an incredible midsummer ride. The Pine Mountain Ride was truly a ride to remember. We met at 5 points Starbucks. The weather was crisp and clear warming up to a hot and sunny day, perfect in all regards. We were nine bikes and ten riders strong, Karen joining the boys. Our leader Craig, Rick, Brain, Larry, Roger, KC, Manny, Ronnie(me), and Dave. We almost had a second female to join the journey but well never mind you would have had to have been there!!!
We headed South on the 101 to the 150 with a fuel stop in Ojai. As we headed across the 33 toward Lockwood Valley the pace was fast and furious, we spotted Dave every now and then and of course everyone waited to regroup at the key junctions. Making sure that everyone was able to keep pace,

Dave's pipes were usually cool, oh well that's the way it is! We rode through the valley climbing out and up there was a bit of coolness in the air. We arrived at Pine Mountain the entire group was excited about the ride and the car show event spread out before us. Is that Dave wearing flip flops? As we strolled the event grounds it was obvious that this was a well planned community event. Attended by entrants and visitors from near and far. The eateries were open and ready to serve. There were many choices for us, Craig and myself opted for Mexican a great choice. What's for desert Strawberry shortcake, where's Dave? Followed by a massage for Craig, Dave and myself our masseuse Moxie did a great job of loosening us up, many thanks. More sights, sounds, and the many vehicles on display as well as much people watching. As the afternoon continued we decided to start our journey back to SB. Manny on his new bike decided to head back a different route, one more direct. We on the other hand took the long and mostly winding road (sounds like a song). As we headed out connecting to the 166 towards the Tepusquet Cyn road on to Foxen Cyn and Zaca Station Road out to the 154. Our last group stop before heading down the pass was in Los Olivos at the Los Olivos Grocery Store to partake in refreshments talk about the great day and events we shared. We mentioned that the only thing that could have made the car show even better would be the addition of a wet T Shirt contest. God knows there was enough talent. Since Craig has a home in the area he might suggest it at the next meeting. We should do an overnighter for the Oct Beer Fest. Hum where would we stay? After all was said and done it was truly a great day, great ridding, super event, great group to enjoy the ride over 300 miles logged for the day. Thanks again Craig for organizing the perfect ride. Enjoy the pics. Ronnie |
