Nacimiento '09

It was Saturday morning as the day began with breakfast at the Cajon Kitchen, I passed and went straight to the 76 at Winchester Cyn.  As our fellow riders converged upon the launch site the mood was upbeat and there was a feeling of excitement in the air.  With both Dave and Darryl at the helm of this ride we knew that the ride to Dave and Terri's Lake Nacimiento retreat would be far-reaching in many ways.  As we started out with our contingent of riders Rick and son John, Rick K., Brain, Ron Foil, Trish, and oh yes me (Ronnie).

As we headed up the 101 North toward our final destination, I kept wondering when we would strike off on to "that path" not known to any of us except our fearless leaders Lewis (Dave) Clark (Darryl).  I know that there were times when we were totally lost.  There were a couple of times that we passed the same place twice.  But it did not matter the route was awesome and amazing.

We ventured up mountains along the coast, was that Cambria?  Venturing though canyons and eventually to the guarded gates of Heritage Ranch and the sparkling coast of Lake Nacimiento.

As we entered the Scholls compound after having our bikes, ID, and blood type checked.  We arrived at their lakefront home, to be greeted by Terri and Cody.  The beer was cold and the food was being prepared.  What a great way to be greeted after our wonderful ride.  Soon we were on our way to the BBQ and fellowship that our group is all about.  As the food met the table and into our bodies.

Off in the distance the rumble of motorcycles was upon us.  Low and behold there were our brothers and sisters "The Winos" had arrived what an awesome sight and welcome as well.  The group included, Art and Linda Jones, Craig and sue Collison, Dave and Cathy Benjamin, Chuck and Fay Pressly, Jim and Carol Fink, Chuck and Gailyn Storer.  They smelled the food and pounced upon the scene.  Great in the fact that this convergence had actually happened, no doubt in my mind at least.  What an awesome day, as the sun started to fade and those who were moving on started to head out, the mood was filled with the wonder of the day and the approaching evening.

As I started to make my way home it was evident that this was a special day.  I bid my fellow travelers good evening and my host Dave and Hostess Terri farewell and sped off into the journey south.  I stopped in Pismo to fuel and gear up, as I jumped on the freeway, who was that in the number 1 lane Ron Foil?  Yes it was and we rode home together, how fitting.  A very special thanks again to Terri and Dave for all their hard work and loving care for hosting such a wonderful and special gathering for each and everyone who shared in this awesome event.  Is there really a lake at Lake Nacimiento, never saw it didn't matter :-0)

Thanks again, Ronnie
