Avila Beach & Memorial Day
with Rick & Densie '08
Well gang it was quite a Memorial Weekend filled with much to do. After the events of Sat: Fallen Warriors Fundraiser and the Blues at Paradise Store.
Sunday a small group of brave souls headed up the coast to Avila Beach for the Blues Festival. We were a hardy group of 5 strong Mark and Madeline, Dan "The Harp Man" Kuljian, myself (Ronnie) and my friend Susan. After a stop at Jacks in Orcott for the customary meal. We found what may have been the best weather on the coast warm and sunny. (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
knew it was going to be good as we pulled into the special Motorcycle parking area, oh yes did I mention FREE parking. As we entered the venue to the music of Canned Heat who were really good, followed by Elvin Bishop who really kicked ass and rocked the room ( although it was outside) And when you thought it wouldn't/ couldn't get any better then came the Little Richard band followed by the man himself Little Richard in a wheel chair and holding crutches NOT A GOOD SIGN! But after he made his way to the piano bench he really put on a show and made the whole day worth while. This was my second trip north for the event and I will put on my calendar for next year. |
