Third Annual Elks Veterans Poker Run

Sunday September 13th marked the third annual Elks Veterans Poker Run to benefit the Elks Veterans Fund. The man behind this event Loren Manes mad his group of dedicated Elks volunteers planned a great event/route. I left downtown about 9 the day started out wet, but warm yet I knew that it would become warm and sunny as it evolved. Arriving at the Elks checking in and joining up with Luke, Tinker and other riders to start our journey. There were about 9 bikes heading south to our first stop on Santa Claus Lane. As predicted (by me) the day became bright and clear.

We continued south connecting with the 33 towards Ojai up the road we went to Foster Park and the Corner Store for our next card. We found Dave and his cohort greeting us. At this point we decided to head off the trail for a different route to Carp High for the next card. Then we headed off road to the the Elks for our final card and the festivities to follow. The food as always was nothing but the best the Elks as always provide, the best service, and the music provided by Bushwood as always toe tapping and beyond. It turned out to be a great day weather-wise, fellow riders, and Loren & the Elks provided hospitality as always the best.

Thanks so much to so many. A side note, I wish that more of us could have been a part of this great event. Maybe if we all had got the word out to other groups riding as well as non riding, and maybe not scheduling on the 1st day of the NFL!! But you know this was a great event and as a Veteran myself, we need to find the time to a part of what makes this country great And that is you and I doing the best we can to support all of those who have done so much to keep us safe..
