Santa Barbara Riders Motorcycle Riding Club

Death Valley April Fools Run 2011

The day began oh so very early  Darryl assembled our group with a breakfast meeting at Cody's.   Once we were prepped our journey began.  Off we went 101 to the 126 stopping in Fillmore for fuel an other riders. We made our day with fuel stops  then lunch at Esparza Family Restaurant, always a welcome stop.  Afterwhich we spilt up making our way across the desert to our nights stay in Beatty Nevada.  We spent our.the with drinks by the pool an food in the hotel.  Sharing our tales of travel of the day.   Ike and Sandy having  the best tale to tell. Something about the keys by the side of the road.  Well time to settle in as day two has us up early for another adventure as we will tour more of DV on our way to Lone Pine.

Saturday  began bright an early.  Whats new!  Off we went to Scottys Castle, the Hearst Castle of Death Valley.  The castle is amazing in itself, yet the story behind the three Walter Scott (Scotty), Albert and Bessie Johnson is straight out of Hollywood..  Off we went to Stove Pipe Wells for lunch.  Afterwords we headed to Lone Pine for dinner an a tour and movie at the Western Film Musuem what a fun evening.  We returned to hang out and wind down.  We sure know how to wind down.  Next up the journey home.

After our evening of merriement and followship. We arose early for a eight AM departure. After breakfast and brief drivers meeting, our group headed down the 395 making our way towards Lake Isabella and finding our way to Bodfish for lunch. This is where folks made there way home taking a variety of routes.

As we traveled I came to realize tbe true meaning of this DV ride. The planning and hard work that Darryl puts into these rides shows in flawless our ride unfolds. We all are thankfull for that effort. Thanks to everyone who made this once again such a special time with those who apart of this ride.
