Cholame Pie Run '08

Saturday, June 28, 2008:  Oh what a great day to explore the central coast.  All in the quest for great homemade pie.  Nearly 500 total miles traveled, through five, yes five counties, to reach our goal of great homemade pie.  Our ride lasted over eight hours, and worth every minute.  When the day was compete no one was disappointed with the ride or the great homemade pie.  It all started in Montecito leaving about 8ish.

This journey had four brave and hardy souls Dave, Birthday Boy Brain, Ron  (his new to him bike), and myself (Ronnie). Traveling south to the 150.  We left the coastal overcast finding warming sunshine very soon.  We stopped in Ojai for breakfast.  After our morning fare, we headed up the 33 connecting briefly with the 166 back to the 33 stopping in Taft for fuel.

From there we found the 58 taking us to the Bitterwater Cow Trail.  I will be cleaning cow crap from my tires for some time, oh well all in the name of a great ride.  Bitterwater took us to the 46 and a mile down the rode lies Cholame, home of the Jack Ranch Cafe and the James Dean Memorial.  Where we had lunch and for the grand finale and the culmination of our meal : GREAT HOMEMADE PIE! ! ! !  Nena, our waitress, took great care of us, where is my peach pie?

We headed towards Paso and south to the Gary Bang Harley Dealership.  No ride with these guys is complete without a Harley stop, but Ron needed a license plate frame.  You would think for a gazillion bucks the thing would come with one.  Oh well what do I know about such matters.  We continued homeward bound barreling down the 101 to the 154.  Heading our separate ways at the bottom of SMP.

Home to savor the day.  Great company, great ride, wonderful food, and great homemade pie.  Happy Birthday Brain.

enjoy the pics.
